A postcard from Narendra to Modi
My name is Narendra and I am the person you see in mirror every single day. Heard that you are shifting your residence to 7, Race Course Road on May 16. This is an extraordinary achievement as the current tenant overstayed by 5 years without anyone ever knowing that he stayed there.
This letter is a reminder from the past to a future you so that you stay grounded and initiate action from day one. I would like to draw your attention on the underlying current in the country. There is a deep unrest among the globally connected young citizens of this country as they see the physical world around them isn’t moving fast enough unlike their social network where people they know of (in distant lands) are doing unimaginable things instantaneously. If this is not addressed by you on priority, I think we would have squandered our country’s youth and you your leadership promise.
Here are some pointers to help you start on Day Zero (May 16) without wasting a second.
1> Lets dream big (alike Kennedy who dreamed of putting a man on moon except that lets stay grounded with our goals) and make projects like ‘Lets put a man on a car and get him from Kashmir to Kanyakumari in 1 day flat’
(approximately 3600KM in 24 hours which means an average of 150Kmph with good speed roads, support infrastructure and faster fuel efficient cars. Its a huge infrastructure investment which will spur growth of various industries, create new towns and wealth and job for the masses.)
2> Why not start a dozen of prizes in science, art, entrepreneur etc and name them after our forefathers instead of the current trend on attributing everything to Gandhi, Nehru and the other Gandhis. How about a Tipu Sultan Prize for rocketry, Mother Theresa Prize for compassion, Bhagat Singh Prize for Social Revolution, Vivekananda Prize for Philosophy, Subash Chandra Bose Prize for Valor, Birbal Prize for the best Administrative servant. 10 such prizes will definitely spur lot of imagination and action on ground.
3> You have done great job as a facilitator in Gujarat by bringing in problem solver(Babu) and citizen problem reporter together and facilitate mutually acceptable scalable solutions. Not only should you replicate this at a pan-Indian scale, you should also bring together people from various fields together to arrive at solutions for problems plaguing our dear nation. How about getting the smartest engineers and designers and biologists to fix transportation issues? This has been done from the 1600’s in Europe widely known as ‘Medici Effect’. If you do it again in the 21st century in India, history would be kind to rename it ‘MODIci Effect’.
The mirror at 7, Race Course is beautiful and does cast a wonderful image of both of our selves. But that’s not what we are here for. Remember Swami Vivekananda’s quote ‘Arise Awake Stop not until your goal is reached’. Lets march forth to the beats of change and make this country prosperous once again.
